Experience the Quiet
Our lovely setting overlooks the rolling hills of the Palouse and is lined by evergreen trees, lush green lawns and flowering gardens. A casual stroll may lead you to the patio or one of the three decks where you can enjoy the view of sunrises and sunsets, share a picnic and maybe a glass of wine or a leisurely chat. Delight in the peace and quiet of country life as you listen to the songbirds and the gentle breeze through ancient pines.
Listed on the National Historic Register, our solid brick masonry three story building was originally a convent built in 1905 to serve the beautiful St. Boniface Catholic Parish right next door. The Church, a marvel in 1900 artistry, is open to the public from dawn to dusk each day. The Churchyard Inn, where historic architecture meets contemporary comfort, was converted to a bed and breakfast in 1995 to avoid the wrecking ball and plans for a parking lot. We know you will enjoy the simple elegance the Inn has to offer you, from private baths for every spacious room, cozy linens and robes, carefully preserved original woodwork and hardware, and local artwork of the guest artists who showcase the Second Floor Gallery.
Making fun use of our awesome hallway we enjoy featuring a different guest artist every couple of months. We are currently blessed to showcase the work of two artists—and all of their work is for sale!
Kay Hornick has spent over 40 years in the Pacific Northwest, and only recently located to Wyoming. It is a treat to have her share her mixed media collages and a couple of larger works, both charming and intriguing.
Marie Narr lives in nearby Moscow and shows her work at the Saturday Market (a fun place to experience if you have time!) Whimsical color make her pictures a wonderful celebration in any room.
Experience Delicious Food
Mornings at Churchyard Inn begin with fresh-brewed coffee and teas, the morning paper, soft music and conversation. Laughter and camaraderie will follow you to the sunlit dining room where all guests become friends sharing a large table. Breakfast is plated gourmet style and features such Inn favorites as maple-peach pancakes, caramel-pecan french toast and fresh berry fruit dishes. Sausage, bacon, eggs, and home-baked muffins often tempt your palate. If you have any dietary preferences or restrictions, please let us know. We’re glad to accommodate special palates and dietary needs. Please inform us prior to your arrival.
Coffee and herbal teas are available on the floors prior to breakfast. Homemade cookies greet you in your rooms at check-in. Sample brandy and liqueurs in the social room in the evening or share a glass of local wine from Wawawai with the innkeepers.
Experience the Palouse
Whether you come to the Palouse to visit friends or family, watch football, take photos, or to simply relax and get away from it all, you won’t find a more accommodating place than Churchyard Inn in the town of Uniontown. Casual hours can be filled with local activities; free wine-tasting for our guests at the Wawawai Canyon Winery, lunch at the new Sage Bakery, shopping at antique stores and a memorable visit to the Dahmen Barn.
